I’m writing my second album currently and this is the first one I’ve decided to “release”, but I was curious as to what type of style would you call it?
I am very inspired by old school death metal, but have heard others call my stuff thrash. What would you call it?
Also, how’s the quality? Decent enough for an amateur recording?
It’s got hints of old style Sepultura and Sacred Reich so I can see where the Thrash comparisons come from but it’s also got quite a lot both old school and new style Death about it too - reminds me of Crypta a bit.
Sound quality is excellent. Kick drums sound particularly good.

Sounds like death metal to me, but I’m no expert. Recording sounds pretty decent.
This is kinda death metal and thrash metal.
I’d have to say Thrash Metal. Not far off Deathrash though.
I love it! I’m always looking for new albums to add. I prefer metal that gets me angry and motivated, it’s how I work through the rage emotions so I can stay a happy and mentally healthy individual.
Love this, I subscribed to the YouTube and I’ll be looking out for the first and this second album for sure. Thanks so much for sharing
back in the day I was in a shitty posthardcore band, but we made a point of specifying we were “saltcore metal.” We put it on posters, mentioned it between songs, after a couple of small local tours, venues started promoting us as “local Salt lovers” or “the originators of saltcore.” I believe it may have been mentioned in some local rags / blogs / internet radio stations
Really, unless you’re either deliberately being derivative, or you genuinely believe in a genre/movement and you’ve deliberately employed any semiotics or patterns of that movement, the micro genre is irrelevant.
As I got older and got into art criticism, it was taught to me by a mentor that criticism is the art of communicating to someone what it was like to experience something they haven’t (yet) experienced.
If you are trying to give your music a taxonomy for your own purposes, it only matters what your instinct tells you. If you’re doing it for marketing purposes, it matters what will sell the most. If you were doing it for artistic purposes, I would expect you’d already know your genre.
Or maybe it just has elements of a genre, but not all art can be taxonomically classified.
