Maybe it’s possible to restrain EU politicians from drafting laws that would give access to encrypted chats to authorities. Something that would result in mass surveillance of all citizens in Europe.

In fact there have been discussions ongoing between Member States on the topic of encryption — and whether/how to regulate it — for several years now.
