Licences to ride e-bikes on public highways could be heading California's way after Assembly member Tasha Boerner drafted Assembly Bill 530 to require a licence for e-bike riders without an active driver’s licence. The proposed law follows a number of recent fatalities on e-bikes that achieved a high profile in the US media.

    Sounds like it’s just to ride on highways, so yeah makes total sense. Though I’m not sure how many Ebikes find themselves on a highway?

    It sounds worse than it is. If you have a license already, then you’re good to go.

    I don’t own a car anymore, I use an ebike as my main vehicle, but I still have a license.

    Kinda makes sense. I’m open to discussion tho.
