As a story and experience 10/10 As a game not so much
Is this any good?
If that is the 80% off price, this is a way-expensive game.
It’s a pretty fun story focused game. The visual quality can be quite astounding, especially really nice facial animations. The combat is nothing terribly special, but it’s serviceable to get you to the next cutscene which are, on a whole, really good and well written.
It’s also got a myriad of points where the game essentially tests you to choose the right dialogue and choices to get better outcomes. Its actually a pretty fun “choice” based game where there is just enough reactivity in the game to your dialogue that you think about what you are saying before you pick it.
On the whole, I have only fond memories of the game. It’s worth this sale price at 11.99 IMO.
I loved it and wholly recommend it.
$60 retail which is standard.
As far as the quality, from what I’ve heard, it’s really good. I haven’t played it myself, so it’s all here say, but I remember hearing a lot of good things about it, and the only bad thing was that it followed the lackluster Avengers game by Squenix.
I played through the entire game. I went from knowing nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy to turning into a huge fan of Guardians of the Galaxy. I have actually completed it. Things that should be noted is it’s not like the movies so you can basically go in blind. There are some characters you won’t find like Yondu or Lylla because I’m pretty sure Yondu is already dead and I don’t think Lylla is mentioned by name but there might be a slight reference to her. Also Quill’s mom is killed by the aliens who basically kidnapped him instead of her dying of cancer like the movie. But yeah the main enemies are those apart of The Universal Church of Truth something that isn’t ever referenced in the movie’s. So it’s a good way to get more deeper into the lore of Guardians of the Galaxy if your only exposure is the movies.
Epic gave it away a few months ago.
As others said, it’s heavily story driven (which I found quiet entertaining). The combat had the potential for some strategy, but ultimately I just went with button smashing (it would have been more engaging if there was a meaningful combo system - the one that’s present in the game is kinda awkward)
The big problem, I have with the game, is the game saving bugs. I spent ~20 hours, goofying around, having fun. Defeated “the final boss”…
Tap for spoiler
which ends in a victory lap… Well, that victory lap never completed cause some characters never appeared.
…and I couldn’t find a save game that wasn’t corrupted. So, I just watched YouTube :(
