Confidential memo’s, meeting reports and handwritten notes show that, going back as far as the early 60’s, the industry was well aware of the risks its invention posed for human health and the environment. Shockingly, the primary concern voiced in Dupont’s files was the firm’s own wellbeing: maintaining profits and avoiding legal liability.
