Hello - I’m relatively new to this ghost town node :). I created
!finance@lemmy.globe.pub [/c/finance@lemmy.globe.pub]
[https://lemmy.globe.pub/c/finance] a few months ago to have a place to discuss
foreign exchange and making payments abroad, which was lacking in the whole
threadiverse. Anyway, I’m trying to create another new community with these
parameters: * name: navigation_technology * display name: Navigation technology,
SatNav, OSM, … * sidebar Everything about hardware and software used for
navigation. But when clicking the “create” button, it just spins for a moment
and goes back to a create button. No error message, but will not move forward.
Has community creation been disabled? I noticed a strange new group called “G’s
Chicken and Waffles” which actually just has posts about the Ruby programming
language. So I wonder if that possible spam/abuse might have led to restrictions
on creating communities. (edit)
Perhaps it should be slightly broader than navigation tech, and be “travel
technology”, which could then cover, idk, things like tourist review software or
the ITA software app. Though it would probably still be primarily navigation
tech that people discuss.
lemmy.globe.pub is a tiny low-activity instance dedicated to travel related topics. Apparently some ass-hat created some community called “G’s Chicken and Waffles” and spammed it with what’s claimed to be Ruby videos. So now creating new communities is dysfunctional, perhaps in response to that asshole. Of course with only 6 communities and like 6 or so users, this instance may be doomed.
I wonder if the signal to noise ratio were to improve, if that would enable the node to improve overall.
