CEO have no idea what's going on.

Edit: Interestingly there are 3 unknown country codes in the list of deisted regions previously, so optimistically it might just be them correcting it and they would start selling world wide again.

Also some people say this might put them in violation of EU laws, but I’m no law expert nor an EU resident.

Edit 2 [update]: screenshot from someone who got denied a refund. Looks like it’s confirmed to be Sony’s decision.

I have a suspicion that Sony is going to try to reintroduce PSN in a month or two, which is why they won’t re-list the game. Either that or they’re spiteful as fuck.

Either way, I hope Arrowhead has an exit plan in the event that Sony tries to force their hands again, even if that means everyone walks out and starts a new studio.

They shouldn’t have to start over, they’re not owned by Sony, Sony just published the Helldivers games for them and likely owns the IP.

They would just have to walk away from the best selling franchise they’ve ever had, which is difficult. They seem to have scruples, but they’re also humans who probably want to live comfortably and feel secure in their futures like the rest of us. If I’m being honest, if it were me, I’d probably take the money because life’s hard enough as it is.

Hard to say how it’ll all shake out.

Quick guys! Go change your review to positive, it will surely improve things!

I’m still not convinced it wasn’t just Sony bots spamming all HD2 threads on Lemmy

God the whining in these threads.

Okay, what are the rules and legal requirements to sell into Germany. Well your have to remove swastikas and you cannot depict Nazis positively. Okay good. What about fucking Latvia? Do they have special rules in Loot Boxes? How do they define loot boxes?

Japan is in the banned list!

Oh that’s because this exact reason, so there’s an entirely different game edition needed just for japan to handle their in game currency differently.

    Countries. Have. Different. Laws.

The PSN already has mapped out and navigated their requirements and setup support for the nation’s they cover. The other countries are anyone’s guess. Do they require that consumers have the ability to speak with a human for refunds? Do they require users be able to exchange a digital code for a physical disc if shipping is paid? Do they require any other conditions we aren’t thinking of?

The game was intended to use the PSN to limit the reach. When they suspended the PSN requirement they sold into more places than they were prepared to. Now they are making the best of it.

Hopefully it returns to the store without restrictions. But the Sony legal department now has about 140 countries to review the requirements of for a PC release. Which they’ve only released on like 3-4 times before.

You do realize that Sony has been selling games in those countries for years? God of war isn’t delisted, neither are Horizon games, neither are Spiderman games. The upcoming Ghost of Tsushima isn’t delisted either (edit: seems like it is getting delisted).

The delisting isn’t related to Sony selling the game. If it’s related to anything it’s related to the PSN requirement. And I think people are rightfully complaining because there no need to have PSN in those games. It’s a stupid push by Sony that is also forcing them to delist their games.

Licking Sony‘s boots without even knowing the context? I sincerely hope that you’re enjoying it.

It’s not about laws and regulations. Game was sold in these and ~170 more countries just 2 weeks ago. I wanted to buy a game for my friend‘s birthday — I can’t do it anymore because they live in a newly “unsupported” region. And thanks to Sony being absolutely silent on this, I have no idea whether we would be able to play this game together ever.
