I know most of us have seen it, but if you haven’t (or it’s been a very long time), this is your assignment this weekend. Watching this film with the reverence that it deserves will leave a lasting impression on you.
Agreed! I tried to make my partner watch it maaany times, myself seeing it back to back at least 10 times, but she would always fall asleep after the first 10/15min. When I spotted it was playing in my local cinema, I made her to go (slim chances she would fall asleep in the cinema) and her reaction was “Is this that movie about monkeys”… :D
She watched the whole film and said “Ok, this was pretty amazing”
Nice. I have to sometimes get my partner into situations where she can’t use her phone too, to get some of these older films watched properly.
To both @CoachDom@lemmy.blahaj.zone and @Tenthrow@lemmy.world…
Be zen about it and find peace in the fact that you aren’t with your partners because of their respective cinematic tastes.

See what I mean? That just says how much she loves you. She doesn’t give a hominid’s ass about Kubrick’s film. 😂
No amount of “conditioning” (watched properly?!? 🤣🤣🤣) is going to change that. Peace!
EDIT: Ha! Forgot to say YES, 2001 is definitely one of the genre’s most important films as well as cinema in general. It defined the look of all things “outer space” since. Of course it did: why else would NASA have employed Kubrick and Co. to fake the moon landing? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh I am aware. But my SO is a pretty solid film fan in general (was before we met) she just lets the phone distract her. I have come to terms with it for the most part.
