I want to sleep, but my brain wants to go over the list of reasons why I should hate myself. He’s very insistent.

This is something that working from home helped me out with a lot. More time sleeping instead of commuting. Even during lockdown times, the adequate amount of sleep I was getting kept me in higher spirits.

In both suburban(+rural?) and city areas, I hear a lot more of people racing their cars and honking lately. I suppose it is how they deal with their stress, by ignoring the needs of others as they think only of themselves.

Even if the former stuff is not the actual and literal cause of sleeplessness, I do find it highly emblematic/symbolic. People get theirs and everyone else can deal with it as best they can, or not, whatevs.

    Is it Americans or Females?

You can’t have both, but the article tries having both. It’s headline is Americans Sleeping Less, More Stress. But underneath that is turning it into a slight sexist issue.

It’s the majority of Americans and women are experiencing it worse. That’s not contradictory at all.
