It always ends like this, doesn’t it? The initial boondoggle funds haven’t even been disbursed, and already the calls for more free federal bucks have begun. And it won’t end with Washington, or Mississippi. The floodgates are once more open. And this is the result:

    Even if they did manage to fund it, I can’t be the only one out there thinking that gubmint internet access would track you worse than Facebook and tiktok do… especially if you’re against the ones in power

    I would rather just have local Internet co-ops, like some places do for gas or electric. If they bring the monopolies like Comcast to heel and either subsidize other options or break up the big telecon conglomerates so there’s actual free market competition that’d be the best imo.

    Btw I’m not trying to come off as anti-capitalism - just anti-monopoly. if you read up on Comcast there’s tons of shit out on the web about them getting propped up by government stuff in various areas and then raising prices where they are a monopoly so they can operate without a profit and bury competition in areas where they aren’t …

    Tldr; small-medium business with basic regulations good. large mostly unregulated monopolies like Comcast very fucking bad
