@Jaybefaunt

I don’t want to get out of the hood, I want to make it so that it’s favorable to the people who already live there.

True safety is:

  • Having housing security
  • Full healthcare
  • Free education
  • Healthy food
  • Mass public transit
  • Owning their workplace and running it democratically
  • Natural areas for leisure

It’s not a matter of if we want it. We do. It’s changing the system so that we CAN have it without being exploited.

    I hope we can get there. We could be doing it right now but the people in office can’t and won’t vote against making themselves rich.

    I think they greatly overestimate what people not in the hood have? Most of those points are still not guaranteed for most people, no matter where they live, sadly.

    That co-op employer idea is a bit much. I’d settle for either:

    1. Strong unions
    2. Job mobility and competition for employees

    A bit biased because my job and location has usually meant easy mobility and demand for people like me. Employers have to treat me well because I have so many other easy choices
