Donations in the same way I give a dollar to salvation army and don’t expect to ever cash in on my dollar

    Good point. IIrc, the loan that usa gave the uk for ww2 was only paid off in like 2017.

    Iirc, trudeau said we citizens can buy ukrainian war bonds that pay back in like 10 years. I assume that for those war bonds, it goes:

    citizen -> war bond -> money to canada -> money to ukraine.

    Meaning i would think cashing in on the war bonds in 10 years would go;

    ukraine -> canada -> war bond -> citizen?

    But if ukraine can’t pay back citizens for war bonds, does the canada gov just foot the bill?
