You should look into enabling zram swap

Usb flash is slower than sata flash which is slower than ram cache.

Where rail systems could not be bought, GM bought rail officials instead, giving Cadillacs to those who converted to buses. And where rail systems were publicly owned and could not be bought, like the municipal railway of St. Petersburg, Florida, GM bought their officials instead, according to FBI files, providing complimentary Cadillacs to those who converted to buses.

Also to note, the cleveland mayor and his staff were seen driving new Cadillacs right after they announce the move to gas powered buses for the city (cant find the source I read that at, it was a long time ago).

Imagine if Euclid ave still had a streetcar instead of that dumbass health line.

Its insane what the USA will do to protect capital. Also they must be so happy these guys are Russian so they can make an example out of them.

My buddy who is a crazy outdoor mountain man, or was at the time, came down off the mountain and brought a bunch of his Patagonia shit into their store in reno where they will repair/replace your damaged clothes for free (which is admittedly pretty cool, ive done this myself a couple times). Anyway, he’s got a huge scraggly beard and is basically the spitting image of a hermit rockclimber and the lady there told him they wouldn’t repair his clothing because she thought hewas just a homeless person who went around gathering Patagonia shit to have them repair it so he could resell it.

He was just like what? the fuck? What difference does it make even if that was the case. This lady just thinks shes better than him and refuses to take any of his garments and sleeping bag. Needless to say he’s never buying Patagonia gear again.

I’ve also wanted something like this but afaict the only way to do it would be to run everything with sensitive data in a guest profile (on android), however call/text history is controlled by the main profile, even if you’re using voip apps. I could be wrong as i have only tried doing this with google voice in a guest profile but phone calls do not work unless you enable voice/sms permissions in the main profile (on grapheneOS). I’m sure iOS is even more restricted when it comes to something like this.

I think the only real option for security measures like this would be to use some native linux phone like postmarket or something and write your own lockscreen.

There is an open issue/feature request for two factor unlock in graphene, but it’s a big job and they’re lacking developers.

Of course the best option would be to not have any sensitive info on your device, but that’s pretty much impossible these days.

They’ll hold you in jail until you provide it or can bribe them enough to let you go. Often they will take your finger and put it on the biometrics to unlock without yourconsent. This is why phones really need print+pin it drives me bananas that isn’t possible. If that doesn’t work they can just keep your phone as evidence if theres an open case against you, which they’ll probably do anyway.

I’m speaking to my experience in the USA but I’m sure French cops are just as shitty.

Really cool.

Unrelated: why does fdroid search suck so much? I always have to scroll through a bunch of other apps even though I search for the name of the app.

Yeah but running a different OS on that hardware is going to be a headache especially when something inevitably goes wrong with it.

Yes its more powerful than a raspberry pi, that is obvious. I wouldn’t run any critical services on a pi for a multitude of reasons though.

Heavy is relative and proprietary or FOSS has very little bearing on it. ZFS will always consume as much memory as it can.

I wouldn’t recommend running truenas on hardware like that as its usually very specialized and locked down to the software it ships with. Even if you did get it running you would no doubt run into issues down the line, which is something you dont want to happen with something that is expected toreliably serve data to you.

Also 4gb would be a bit small for ZFS, which is the default filesystem in truenas. On top of that this nas maxes out at 8gb ram which is still a bit small. Zfs uses ram to cache a lotof data so the more ram you can support, the better. Also this is why its recommended to use error correcting memory so any data corruption can be caught long before it writes to the disks. Afaict this unit doesn’t support that type of memory.

If you’re gonna run with this box I would recommend sticking with the factory software and run as few services from it as possible as it has a memory ceiling and that celeron will likely be a slug for running anything but NFS/smb/etc. It should work fine as a backup appliance.

If you just want a good two drive solution, I recommend one of these but you will need to buy memory as they come without any. I picked up a couple of these a while back and they were pretty great little nas solutions. Plus they support a lot of memory (be sure to buy ECC RDIMM DDR4 memory). Plus it has HP iLO which allows you to manage the server without it being powered on.

Also that listing says theres no 3.5" caddies but i found that theyre really not necessary as you can just sit the drives inside the chassis which is how i ran them for quite a while. I believe there are some 3d printable caddy designs on thingiverse if you really want them.

Here’s a good STH thread on those mini servers

What nas? Are you sure it has proper specs to be running truenas?

Either way no I would assume you can install it to the nvme.

How is it? I wanna grab it but I’m phobic about pirating with dht without a seedbox.

Shouldn’t the hat be on the microphone?

The source is a screenshot of text how could you question the great all knowing non-selectable god?

>Hi all. Due to parts shortages and COVID closures at our manufacturing facilities, the official Steam Deck Docking Station is delayed. We're working on improving the situation and will share more info when we have it. This has no effect on production schedule and reservation windows for Steam Decks (different parts, different factories).

Is it an intended 'feature' of lemmy to restrict users ability to make comments when blocked by OP?
so this CHEF-KOCH guy banned and deleted my comments from his community. I messaged to ask why and he blocked me from messaging him. He recently made a post in /c/linux and i am unable to comment on the post of any of the comments to the post. Is this intended by the devs? It seems like it only functions to hinder discussion. Say this dude just started posting all over the place in different topics and such, they could effectively block anyone they don't agree with which would just kill any actual discussion on any of these posts. It seems incredibly backwards when he is not the admin of those communities. Who is he to say who gets to comment there?

How do I remove from c/all
It’s just a bunch of tankies shitposting for mao. how do i stop seeing these idiot posts?
