If you’re not finding fulfillment here, make a change. Go observe nature, take on a new hobby (like guitar!) sign up for a class or workshop to forge new connections. If you’re unable to go places and truly confined to the internet, seek out community for things like online tabletop gaming.

If you prefer to dwell in the negativity, that is your choice, but that’s where you’ll stay unless you do something.

If you can find the old .ipa app packages, you could use it as an offline devices for old apps and games that no longer run on newer iOS versions.

Most forums shifted to subreddits. Then Reddit enshittified to monetize user content for LLMs, a lots of folks (myself included) burned their post and comment history on the way out.

All that stuff still exists, in some of the places it used to be.

Tactical FPS games (Tarkov, Ready or Not, Insurgency come to mind) have the option to fast reload by dropping the magazine (double tap R) or taking a little more time to add the partial magazine to the back of the rotation.

In Tarkov, magazines are individual containers where you can add or remove bullets through the inventory menu.

Lighting and shadow some are the most computationally intensive aspects of a game, they’re usually the first settings I dial back when I need to improve performance.

The possibility of running lower settings and having their visual fidelity improved as part of the upscaling pipeline is an appealing one for me. The key would be tuning it so that it can be an enhancement to what’s already there, not something that totally overrides it or makes it look like Gen-AI output.

In addition to what others have said, I would hazard a guess that these bike lights shipped with a charger that uses a 5V brick and a Type A to Type C cable.

With A to C, no negotiation happens - 5V just gets sent.

If it had, it would have also fried the display unit you tried it on.

USB-PD defaults to 5V until a negotiation takes place to establish voltage and current limits. In order to have caused damage, negotiation would have to have established voltage greater than 9V.

Plenty of USB-C chargers do not supply the full range of voltages that are possible through USB-PD. For example, the Nintendo Switch’s charger is limited to 15V because that is the most the switch supports. Lots of inexpensive “phone chargers” top out at 12V.

It’s more likely that you received a defective unit.

This past month, I set up JKII to run in super ultrawide with high res textures and fixing the reticule position by dragging and dropping a few files.

Set up Splinter Cell Enhanced to glow up the PC version of the game.

There are other examples, like the X-Wing / TIE mods.

In these cases, my own goal has been to adapt the games to modern systems / formats while preserving the core gameplay.
