Political Memes@lemmy.world•"Look it just can't be helped." - the CEO
183·6 days agoauthor of the meme, probably:

people exists anyway
chickens don’t give out free eggs, we take them from them by force and we don’t really ask.
it as if slave-catcher catching people to sell them to slavery commented on the topic with “hey, free people!”
but unpleasant, and you’ll be miserable the whole time.
on the one hand, mac is often virtue signaling for hipsters, on the other hand it is a unix system, so… it often works that way.
I’d expect them to have included the full story.
- there is no reason for anyone to do that
- the “story”, if true, does not necessarily have to come from the applicant
- it may very well be bullshit, but the hints you chose to focus on are absolutely irrelevant
Gmail is functional at what it sets out to do
it is not. it can’t even do such simple thing as sorting the inbox by the sender’s name. it may seem functional to people who never used real mail client and were brainwashed into accepting this as the only available ui, but it is really not.

Technology@lemmy.world•Lenovo’s New ThinkPads Score 10/10 for Repairability— Repair goes mega mainstream with the launch of Lenovo's new T-series laptopsEnglish
1·13 days agothere isn’t really anything revolutionary described in the article (maybe with an exception of these detachable ports).
i have no idea how much things got worse in the last few years, so it is possible they are fixing something they broken lately, but again, presenting it as something new, when it is in fact something that thinkpads were known for since the last ice age and is why people are using them, is just strange to me.
it is really on the level of “omg you guys, did you know that ferrari is doing really fast cars?”

Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•Donald Trump insists there are no wind farms in China. Here are 20 of them – in pictures
12·13 days agoWhat are these effects on the environment you speak of?
the effects are destroying the environment so you can place a wind turbine there. most of these places are not some brownfields, but rather cool and unique locations that were devastated and changed for a turbine placeholder. like this one:

A metal pole in the ground has virtually 0 environmental impact,
of course. because it just magically spawned there without any effect on the landscape whatsoever. it absolutely did not require cutting the top of the mountain, transporting tons of the soil from there and replacing it with tons of concrete so they can anchor the turbine in it.

They’re still beautiful, pristine places
oh really? the word subjective does some heavy lifting here 😂

now imagine if each of them had an oil refinery or coal burning plant instead
suuuure… https://learn.academy4sc.org/video/fallacy-of-relative-privation-all-problems-are-relative/
now imagine if that island had neither an oil refinery nor wind turbines. how cool would that be?

random soundbite trying to twist someone’s words is not critical anything, it is just pathetic.

thinkpads were always repairable, that and durability is their number one attribute. you present it as if it were somehow new thing.

and there are other options than your false dichotomy presents.
