I am observing a very similar sentiment to Sinophobia, now regarding Russia. Reddit’s audience is primarily 80% USA + West EU, and the rest 20% also includes a lot of East Europe and other countries, leaving for 5-10% anti-hatred people. On the other hand, Western world makes up for a mere 12% of the world’s population.

This speaks volumes about how majoritarianism is flipped on the internet by Western world to suit their narratives and loudmouth whatever they want dominating in virtual space. And since moderators are also from said Western countries, the biases are completely intentional and systematic.

For all the “human rights” and “no censorship” nonsense these Western countries spout with the assumption of having high horse on moral grounds, they lie a lot systematically.

Just an observation.

What kind of russophobia do you observe? Almost every post that makes it to r/all (which is pretty much the only thing I visit) has a top comment that underlines this is about Putin and not the Russian people.

It is not about Putin. It is about Russia, and the only reason you see “f*** Putin” instead of “f*** Russia” (like "“f*** China”) is because Russians are Caucasian like and white skinned, and not yellow/brown/black skinned. It is English Fascism at play.

Why do you think you do not see anything talking about the Aegis missile system of 30 NATO countries surrounding Russia at the moment? Why do the 2-5% people having arguments that favour Russia get silenced or called Russian bot?

I don’t even know what to say about this. You have an incredibly hateful and racist worldview.

I am pretty sure that is because of the ongoing Russian attack on Ukraine. All of this proves the necessity for protection. The invasion delivered the best possible justification for NATO’s existence.

Why do the 2-5% people having arguments that favour Russia get silenced or called Russian bot?

Same as above. There is no justificaton for war.

“It’s not about Putin, it’s about Russia” is a true statement. History is not decided by great men. History is decided by the class struggle and material conditions. And right now, Russia is in a popular front just like China was in WW2. Why? Because the west wants to open up Russia’s economy to foreign interests. They want to privatize Russia’s state oil and gas firms and expropriate the profits. The same thing they have done for the resources of countries all over the world. Proof? You can see it in public. Leaders and pundits in NATO are already floating around the idea of regime change in Russia. They are going to try to start a coup and put in a US friendly leader in Russia.

This already happened. The oligarchs own the means of production, and spend their profits in the West to live lives of luxury. Russia hasn’t been communist for decades, and putin’s friends are the capitalist owners extracting the results of the work of the people for their own private benefit. Where have you been?

You have an incredibly hateful and racist worldview.

Go ask the English Fascists, not me. I am just making the truth obvious and open for all to see, because I come from a country colonised by Britishers for 2 centuries. I am decent at English and Theory of Computation, so I know a lot of racist grammar tricks, I guess.

NATO does not need a reason to exist or genocide or warmonger. Anglo-Saxon imperialist empire has been like this for the past 5 centuries, and plenty recorded history shows it all. Many experts said for years that NATO is poking the Russian bear.

That’s a pretty big claim you’re making, with nothing to back it up.

And I don’t see what the Aegis missile system has to do with russia hate.

maybe now’s a good time to share that Reddit has always had rampant Russophobia. Back in 2016 when the Enough Trump Spam subreddit was made, they added “no xenophobia” to their rules. but every other post was xenophobic towards either Russia, China, or the DPRK. Hell, I got like a thousand downvotes on a comment where I corrected the OP on the reach of DPRK’s missiles (it was one of those “oh no, the north koreans are going to nuke us next week” posts), and nearly all of the thousands of comments were calling me a Russian bot, or using slurs to insult me.

Russophobia was a big part of the Democrat’s strategy against Trump in that election, claiming that Russia helped Trump win and whatnot. Russophobia is at this point, perhaps, the oldest propagandist tool used by the American state. Ever since the revolution in Russia, and honestly even before it, they scaremongered supporters into supporting whatever it was the politicians or the media wanted them to support, using Russia, the Soviet Union, or Communism (which was tied to the Soviets for them) as the leverage. Black people want rights? can’t do that, that’s communism, and look at what’s going on in the evil USSR. Workers want rights? can’t do that, the evil USSR. so on, so forth. It’s very disheartening that they still use this tactic today, but it’s even more disheartening that in the information age, where anyone can simply look the information up and disprove the propaganda, people still eat the tactic up like day-old fries.

Cold War makes things too clear, and McCarthyism on the other hand does a lot of work. People do not know everything, it is clear. Democratic structures need to have safeguards to work, and their foundation must not be things like English Fascism.

Russian disinformation campaign trumpeting is how Trump lost, and also because Trump showed the world true face of USA. Before that, it was all nicely hidden to the point even I was the average typical capitalist USA fanboy. Those HK riots woke me up to learn a lot of stuff.

    leaving for 5-10% anti-hatred people

Does someone being from the USA or Europe automatically make them anti-Russia? Does someone not being from USA or Europe automatically make them pro-Russia?

Isn’t assuming either of these things prejudiced (and dare I say perhaps even racist) against both Americans and Europeans?

It’s not 100%, but yes, the countries that colonized the entire world and created the idea of race to begin with are very much the racist ones. How is that surprising?

Reddit is incredibly racist. I have noticed as an Arab that Arab hate on Reddit is rampant, but I’ve also noticed Russian and Chinese hate to be really bad.

Sadly, while it is a little better here, it’s not that much better.
