I've been away from this Lemmy community for a while (because something went wrong with both my Lemmy clients 🤷‍♀️) and now that I'm back I see that it shares a lot of post and comments with r/emacs. How does that work? Is this automated? Are people just posting the same thing in both places?

I’ve set up the bridge which is pulling the content from /r/emacs and the comments as well. It’s part of my work on Fediverser. Every user from https://alien.top is a mirrored account from reddit, and I have a web service where I can map subreddits <=> lemmy communities.

At the moment, it is just pulling the reddit submissions and comments, but there are some more things that I’m planning to work on:

    • Reddit user authentication on https://alien.top. If someone authenticates and proves ownership of the reddit account, they can take over the corresponding lemmy account, and bring their subs. This would effectively help people make a seamless migration.

    • Two-way communication: replies made on lemmy would be sent to reddit, with a link to the conversation here. (To help more people be aware of the conversation here)

    Any feedback, ideas appreciated.
