Putin's chief envoy on Ukraine told the Russian leader as the war began that he had struck a provisional deal with Kyiv that would satisfy Russia's demand that Ukraine stay out of NATO, but Putin rejected it and pressed ahead with his military campaign, according to three people close to the Russian leadership.

This provides evidence that NATO was not the reason for the war.

Plus Zelensky said in March 2022 how he doesn’t expect Ukraine to join NATO “anytime soon”, even though efforts were made before the war. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/03/15/europe/ukraine-nato-zelensky-shift/index.html

And again, adequate comment got tone policed, while that disgraceful OP piece of NATO propaganda litters the community.

The coment was “Most mentally sane sopuli user”, calling users of that instance insane. Thats clearly a violation of rule 2: “Be respectful. Everyone should feel welcome here.”

This is not “tone policing”, its called enforcing the rules. And by the way, there isnt any rule which would prohibit “NATO propaganda”. Maybe you would be happier on lemmygrad.ml instead of here?

The fact there are no “no NATO propaganda rule” is exactly the core of a problem, which, along with your post and the fact that this opening post is not removed despire it being a piece of lie peddled as news, means you are completely ok with blatant NATO propaganda. The OP is a known troll which should be banned long ago for bad faith trolling, but you also don’t have a problem with that.

Also you are now basically telling me to go away, isn’t that too breaking the rule 2?

Btw this article breaks two rules of the community:

Since when Reuters has been a tabloid?

At least since cold war, when it’s about politics it’s a voice of western imperialism. And while the level of it could be maybe argued before, this particular article is way below the level of tabloid.

But that is just your own opinion, and in a general sense Reuters is considered a reputable news outlet. Of course Reuters isn’t “pure” or unbiased but no news outlet is. Also, from a moderation perspective it is easier to not allow articles from a site known to be a tabloid, rather than judge each article in a case-by-case basis.

Did you read it? Not only there is all just baseless allegiations but it is dramatically contradicting reality where Russia tried for 8 years to achieve peace, and were even joined by France and Germany in that, but Ukraine was waging war on Donbas all the time and all peace talks from their side was just pretended. It’s literally the opposite of what this article claims.

That even lower than tabloid.

Most fun, up there, you post the bit about Ukraine not being admitted to NATO before the war, but that it was known to public (by the Zelensky himself admittance in march) only after war started, which is even more damning for UA government since it’s a proof of how they are complete compradors and straight up traitors. Add to this recent Boris Johnson involvement and you will have that the article is pure lies and not by ignorance.

Again, that’s lower than tabloid.

And who gets to decide what is or isnt “NATO propaganda”? It would require some kind of fact checker, which could easily turn into a fulltime job. I think it makes much more sense that users debunk “fake news” in the comments, so that others can see the arguments and consider if they make sense or not. That way people can actually have discussions and learn something. If we just removed any “fake news”, people would still read it in other places, and wouldnt see anyone debunking it.

If you dont like moderation on this instance, its only logical that you pick another one which you like more. One of the main purposes of federation is that there can be different instances with their own rules and moderation policies.

Also, do explain why this article is nsfw content.

Just look at that rag and ask “qui bono?”

It would require some kind of fact checker

You could alternatively read my post below, or just read that article, especially that it was reported, and conlude that it’s just allegiation without any proof or sources - at best an opinion and not the news.

I think it makes much more sense that users debunk “fake news” in the comments

Yes, i debunked it and reported it, it’s misinformation of most harmful kind, NATO one.

If we just removed any “fake news”, people would still read it in other places, and wouldnt see anyone debunking it.

This is not “shit fascists say”, this is “world news” the point is to have news which aren’t outright fabrication. Removing such things is pretty normal for any news outlets. And i’m absolutely sure this here is bullshit therefore i reported it as such, which did not happened before.

If we just removed any “fake news”, people would still read it in other places, and wouldnt see anyone debunking it.

Prager and such would be acceptable too then i guess?

If you dont like moderation on this instance, its only logical that you pick another one which you like more.

Poks, and here i was sure that it’s ok to criticize the moderation (btw moderation of that community did not shown themselves afaik?) in a place where free speech is valued to the point that imperialist propaganda is allowed and even defended by the administration.

Also, do explain why this article is nsfw content.

Other two rules obviously.
