The mod creator says they’ve dedicated 2,000 hours over the last two years to make Runelite HD but was only recently messaged by Jagex.

Runescape developer Jagex has put an end to Runelite HD, a fan-made HD mod of the popular open-source client for Old School Runescape, just as the project was about to launch last Monday. The 11th-hour move has some Runescape fans decrying Jagex’s decision and saying they’ll move to other MMOs.

Am I the only one who thinks in game protests are kinda cringe? If one tenth of the protestors went to Jagex’s office instead it would be better.

well yes and no. I guess it depends on the context. But protests are made to amplify the message of a cause (amongst other reasons), ahd in this case, if they would had showed up at the office it would probably had been a lot smaller protest, and I probably wouldn’t had heard of it so… :P

with that said, there’s something odd about using someone’s service to protest the service. Sort of like going into mcdonalds to protest, but buying a hamburger and eating it at the same time. :P

Not necessarily. In game protests reach the actual customers who might in turn also reconsider their subscription. A in person protest in front of the developer’s office will not even be noticed by most of the players and thus in turn will do little to change the mind of the developers.

Makes sense. But I bet if you (not you personally) could storm their office like the Capitol building, a lot of people would notice lmao.
