    I understand where the author is coming from. However, this isn’t applicable in every situation. In our particular circumstance, we bought our home to live in and raise our two sons. It took a couple of decades of working/saving in order to afford to buy our home. We aren’t going to treat our home as a financial investment either. Rather, we are going to keep our home in our immediate family. To explain, we are going to pass the property onto our sons. They will, more than likely, use it as a vacation home later in life.

      I don’t think the criticism is meant for every homeowner, it’s specific to the treatment of housing as only a means to make money off of, which is not what you’re doing here.
